Tracking competitors with Monitoring

Monitoring tracks your competitors’ accounts over time, without you having to check them one by one every day. Here is how to add one and read the results.

1

Open Monitoring

The Monitoring page lists the competitor accounts already tracked, with a button to add a new one by username or public URL.

2

Add an account to track

Enter the account to follow, it does not need to be connected to Perroly: Monitoring only reads public information.

  • Username or URL of the competitor account.
  • No permission needed from the competitor, everything stays public.
3

Read the daily snapshots

Every day, a snapshot captures the tracked account’s state (followers, recent posts). The history builds up, letting you compare your own growth to the competitor’s over the same period.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the competitor’s permission to track them?

No. Monitoring only reads public information, the same way any visitor could by browsing the account.

Can I track a competitor on any network?

Tracking depends on which networks Monitoring supports in Perroly; check availability when adding the account from the Monitoring page.

How long before the data is comparable?

As with your own stats, expect at least two weeks of snapshots before comparing trends rather than isolated numbers.

Can I remove a competitor from my tracking list?

Yes, remove it from the Monitoring page. Snapshots already captured stay available in the history, only future collection stops.

Does the tracked account know I am monitoring it?

No. Monitoring only reads public information, with no interaction or notification sent to the tracked account.

Can I track an account that is not really a competitor, just for inspiration?

Yes, Monitoring does not distinguish between a direct competitor and an account you simply track to observe its practices.
