The unified inbox: centralize everything

Perroly brings your Instagram and Facebook messages into a single inbox, under Messaging. No more switching between two apps to reply to your community.

1

Allow access to Instagram messages

Instagram has its own privacy setting controlling whether apps connected through the API (Perroly included) can read your private messages, separate from the permissions granted when connecting. On an account freshly switched to professional, it is sometimes off by default.

On the Instagram app: Settings and privacy > Messages and story replies, or for a Business/Creator account, Settings > Business > Messages, and check that access for third-party tools or API integrations is turned on.

  • If this setting is off, Perroly simply receives no messages from that account, with no visible error on Instagram’s side — or a technical error in the logs (code 200, subcode 2534041) if you have access to them.
  • If you change this setting after already connecting the account, reconnect it from Perroly > Accounts for the change to take effect: the old access does not update itself.
  • Detailed steps, with screenshots: dedicated guide to this error.

Find every conversation in one place

As soon as an Instagram account or a Facebook Page is connected, its conversations flow automatically into Messaging. Both networks appear together in one list, sorted by recent activity.

Reply without switching apps

Open a conversation and reply directly from Perroly: the message goes out on the original network, as if you were inside the Instagram or Facebook app itself.

4

Keep the full history

Perroly keeps every conversation’s history in its database, beyond the limits Meta’s messaging API imposes. Nothing gets lost, even on an old conversation.

5

Filter by account

With several accounts connected, a filter at the top of the list shows only one account’s conversations, useful when a team manages several brands.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reply to an Instagram message and a Facebook message from the same screen?

Yes. Both networks share the same conversation interface, only the platform icon changes to show where a message came from.

Is conversation history kept forever?

Yes, Perroly stores the full history in its database, beyond the limits of Meta’s Conversations API.

Do I need to connect both Instagram and Facebook to use the inbox?

No. Each connected account feeds the inbox independently, one connected network is enough to get started.

I am not receiving any Instagram messages in Perroly, what should I do?

Check the third-party message access setting in the account’s Instagram settings (see the first section of this guide). That is the most common cause: the account has it turned off, sometimes without realizing it, and no visible error shows up on Instagram’s side. After turning it on, reconnect the account from Perroly > Accounts. Detailed steps: dedicated guide to this error.
